The Port of Long Pond

Steadfast Connections

The Port of Long Pond is strategically located in a large, sheltered ice-free bay on the Northeast Avalon Peninsula of Newfoundland & Labrador, in the Town of Conception Bay South. Settled in 1803, the port has been an important economic contributor to the entire region, when it was first used as a fishing hub and then expanded its footprint with a shipping facility for a nearby pyrophyllite mine in 1937.

Since that time, the Port of Long Pond has evolved and grown to support a range of industries, including offshore, energy, mining, agriculture, and construction, and most recently serving as a port of call for offshore supply vessels. The port is a hub of activity for export of minerals (pyrophyllite), transshipment of aviation fuel, import of grain feed for chicken in the province, cement, Heliport, supply vessel and occasional ferry activity. It also provides a complete logistics solution through a partnership with Blue Water Group, including warehousing, materials management and transportation.

The port is operated by the Long Pond Harbour Authority (LPHA) and is accessible by a modern multi-highway system, making the full-service port just minutes from major amenities and nearby industrial parks and a convenient one-stop shop to provide service from a single location. The expansive, sheltered bay means less standby time, better traffic flow and year-round uninterrupted service.
