Long Pond Harbour Authority announces new CEO and brand for the Port of Long Pond
Port well positioned to support future pan-industry growth
CONCEPTION BAY SOUTH, NL – The Long Pond Harbour Authority (LPHA) is pleased to announce maritime and energy industry sector veteran, Captain Mark Turner as its new CEO, along with a new brand and website that showcases the port’s potential for future growth.
The Port of Long Pond has long been an economic contributor for the region and has supported a number of industries including energy, mining and agriculture. Located in a sheltered bay with favourable weather conditions, the port provides a full range of services through strategic partnerships, offering everything needed to meet operational requirements in one area, including access to fuel, water, drilling fluids, laydown, storage, berthing access and robust emergency services. The port itself is designed for efficient operations, resulting in less standby time, reduced operating risk and lower carbon emissions.
Captain Mark Turner has had a long, successful career and has watched the marine and energy industries evolve over the course of the last forty years. Holding leadership roles at prominent companies such as Shell Energy, Turner has deep industry knowledge that he is looking forward to bringing to his role as the CEO of the Port of Long Pond.
“I am very excited to work with the Port of Long Pond, its team and its clients in this role,” says Captain Turner. “The port has laid a strong foundation for growth, and I am looking forward to bringing the services we provide together with our partners to new clients as we grow. As the port continues to evolve, we can really tailor our growth to meet the needs of multiple industries.”
Turner, who began as CEO in February of 2023, also says that the marine industry is at a pivotal time for growth. “I look forward to building a sustainable plan that will see the success of the port for many years to come. The Port of Long Pond and its partners have exceptional staff that support many current projects. I am excited about what the next several years will bring.”
In addition to announcing Captain Turner as CEO, the Port of Long Pond is also launching a new brand and website. The new look is forward-thinking and representative of the Port’s commitment to marine operations, the environment and safety. It also represents an established operation with openness and accessibility. The Steadfast Connections tagline is reflective of the port’s long history of establishing meaningful business connections and providing support to many industries since its inception nearly one hundred years ago.
